Where were they sold?
Does anybody know if there is a reference somewhere that you could find where a vehicle was originally sold? Wouldn't GM have that? I'm pretty sure my truck was sold in Ventura County, Ca where I grew up, but I would really like to know from where and to who. I can remember those old dealers; back in '67, when it was sold, there weren't very many. It was made in Fremont. I can't see myself ever selling this truck; it will be my driver until I pass from this earth, I sincerely believe. I have had a lot of old vehicles, but this one has a soul, it seems to me, and I aim to keep it. Now that it has power steering it is actually way more fun to drive than my '07. Anyways, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm definitely open. I bet someone might even be able to get a little side business going, looking up the history of people's vehicles.

Re: Where were they sold?
You used to be able to go into your local DMV with the pink in your name and get info, don't know if you still can,and don't know if they even kept all that info from way back, why would they ever need it? Not trying to be a pessimist, but I doubt you will get this info nowadays with privacy concerns what they are. Try the DMV.

Re: Where were they sold?
I have the original warranty card on one of my trucks so I can tell it was sold in Phoenix.

Re: Where were they sold?
If your truck was sold in texas, there's a good chance the rear bumper had a dealer or town stamping on it. Mine said "Brownsfield, Texas."

Re: Where were they sold?
I've seen a few in MO too...I think it would be pretty cool to have a nice one on a restored truck.

Re: Where were they sold?
I got lucky and had the original title, protecto-plate, and the dealer emblems on the truck.

Re: Where were they sold?
a friend gave me this:
When I had my '57 I discovered the GM Heritage Center, they sent me some info on my truck. I thought you might like their number too: If you are looking for a build sheet on an older U.S. vehicle, you may contact the General Motors Heritage Center by calling 586-276-0693 or 586-276-0691, or you may contact the Corvette Museum by calling 270-781-7973. If you are unable to obtain the build sheet through the above methods, the build sheet is not available. |

Re: Where were they sold?
I guess Carfax information doesn't go back that far? A few years back I was using Carfax to find out info on cars I was interested in, and I believe it had this info. However, those cars were MY 1988-1994...
