portland 08
I am finally getting to the pics of the portland swap meet this april.
The first 2 days were nice, and then it rained for the next 2. I didn't get shots of all the 60-66 stuff, but there were about 10-15 different trucks for sale. A couplle different guys had "early take off" fleet tailgates for sale ranging from $80 to $450, some were just incredible to look at-shiny original paint, with no dents or scratches. I was looking for a good hood, and as I walked around, I only saw 4 for sale, and they were all sold before I could find them. I did see an aluminum 61 grille($250+), so I guess 61 might have been the first year for the aluminum grille. most all the aftermarket vendors had only 67-72 stuff on display, the Truck shop was there with a big spot and display, they did bring some 60-66 stuff, but the 2 things that I was going to buy they did not bring!- fender patch panels and rear fender braces- what is wrong with almost EVERY 60-66 you see? rusty fenders, you would think they would have brought some patch panels! The pics: the 62-3 gmc sub was right across from us and was very clean. the guys wife was driving it, and they sold the sports car in the background on the first day. thie next is a 63 c20 sub that was shortened to a car hauler. the last was a 62 short step, I think it was $3500, or $5500? It had a beautiful aluminum grille, and a deluxe steering wheel. I was especially interested in the combo of gmc and chev deluxe cab trim. |

Re: portland 08
The thing that was more depressing than not selling my model T was that I didn't have the money to buy this:
It was a 61 chev long fleet BBW. original paint , no rust straight 6 3 speed on the column. It ran and was ready to drive home for$1500- then on sat the price was down to $1250 The project sub was priced in the 2-4k range. |
