Re: Duct Tape
Sure it is, just get some new duct tape...... That's a bummer, from what I've seen on these boards, a PO reunion could be really fun!!!

That a bummer. I think I'd try to find a new cab. Good luck...

Re: Duct Tape
My PO use electrical tape to cover up some of the rust on the bed... mainly there to hold the paint on.
I'll get some pics.

Re: Duct Tape
Ok so there is no confusion I added the duct tape to cover the hole. I figured it looked better than a rusted hole in the roof. Now I just need to figure out which way im going to go.

I saw a late 80's Caddy in town this week. The entire chrome rear bumper was "fixed" by the careful application of furnace tape. You could hardly notice. At least my friend couldn't, but then, he is legally blind.

Re: Duct Tape
Hows the rest of the cab? If the rest of the cab is good id just swap a new roof on to it..

Re: Duct Tape
The only problem with the new roof idea, im going to have to cut off the roof at the pillars, brace the cab to replace the roof. So why is patching the roof not a good idea?

Re: Duct Tape
Yeah! Duct tape is cheap, and even available in several color options these days. Just go to your local dirt track shop and pick a hue that suits ya. Tape it over again and it'll last ya another summer. If ya really want to spiff it up, get ya some 3" wide foil tape, and do the whole top of the cab. It'll last longer than duct tape!

Re: Duct Tape
You know they have colored duct tape now? There is a color that is pretty close to that paint color. AND it's a lot cheaper than buying a newer cab.

Re: Duct Tape
mine was like that on the underside of the driprail areas...had a nice coat of skim and primer too
I am grafting in a new patch section onto mine. Depends what the underskin looks like, you may try to find someone cutting one up and replacing that section.

Re: Duct Tape
haha, my cab became apparently useless after I sandblasted it. I have since decided to so what you suggested and make it a topless truck. It's killing me to not be able to use it to work when I need to. So I think I'm gonna just scab the floor and cut the top off until I can find another cab.
Vdog- have you looked in all the corners of your cab? the rear cab corners, rockers, cab supports and kickpanel? I'd decide if it's worth patching or not depending on how much more work it needs, and might be worth finding a better cab if there's alot more rust.. Chances are you'd open that corner of the roof to patch it, only to find the whole inner roof needs some care.
