Just dropped my truck and I need some shocks for the rear.
The KYB rep said they don't have any for a 4" drop and I can attest that the Gas-A-Just is definitely not a good holdover (it is like a solid rear at the moment, NO bounce).

So, can anyone give me a recommendation on a rear shock for a 4" drop on a leaf spring truck? (I used ECE drop leafs).

They can be the cheap parts store shocks for all I care, just need some give back there. Right now when I hit a bump - the whole truck comes up.

OK, I went out at lunch and hopefully had some luck at the parts store.
I found some cheap Monroe's that seam quite a bit shorter than the KYB's. They are DEFINITELY softer. I'll report back for anyone else that may run into this.

Two recommendations--

1) use the Forum Search feature. There are several VERY good threads on shocks, including specs, model numbers, etc.

2) Download this spreadsheet tool from my web site... http://www.myattitudesucks.com/truck/shocks.xls. It lists current Monroe part numbers, and can be sorted/filtered by mount top and bottom, length, etc. If you have some working knowledge of Excel, you can use it to narrow down your options quickly. Monroe is a very popular choice, and it is very unlikely that they won't have something to meet your particular needs. While some may like KYB, my experience is that the gas pressure on them is too much for the light weight of the rear of a truck.

Tried the search. Found someone running the same shocks I have currently (KYB's). The reason I even bothered with a new thread is because the leaf trucks have different mounts than the coil trucks - and MOST of the info on here is for the coil trucks.

You mean I sat here with 9 pages of Monroe printouts, highlighters, and a calculator when this existed! That's one night I won't get back.

I think even if there are 5 threads about shocks, coils springs or whatever, starring them in the face someone is still going to ask the question about it.
