a shopping we will go!!!
okay guys I'm going shopping next weekend at the knoxville pull-a-part, what year steering column w/tilt will bolt on to my 65 gmc or will it take some mods. gotta get rid of the manual steering. If I keep driving this way, in a year or so my arms will be almost as big as Dino's. lol

Re: a shopping we will go!!!
I’m sure your aware the column is not necessary to swap for the power steering, although tilt would be nice. The tilt column is from a 73 to 8? van with the ignition on the column.
For power steering you will need a steering box and pitman arm from a 68 and up chevy truck or suburban along with the power steering pump and the lines. You will also need a REZ engineering power steering box bracket kit, shop around some places are cheaper. Although some have done it without the kit, it will make the swap quicker. I do recommend a box from a 83 and up truck as this is the variable ratio box and uses originals to seal the hoses. The steering ratio is quicker when it near centered making driving a little better but any box will do. The only down side to the newer box it has metric fittings. this is not a big deal. Just get the valve that screws into the back of the newer pump. Its the big nut on the back like a 15/16 or something like that. The valve will screw into any style of the pumps and allows for the use of the metric hoses. A new pressure line is cheap like 15 bucks if I remember just make sure you get a return line from the JY I don’t think you can buy that one.
