Talking 3/4 or 1 ton Rear End

Hello All
My question is I have a 1972 Chevy 3/4 ton long bed with 4:10 Gears and wanted to know if a Rear End out of a 3/4 or 1 Ton 1973 or newer fit under the 1972 with out to much work? What I need is 3:08 Gears or higher?

Thanks,
Bird Dog

Hey Bird Dog,
Good to have you on the board. I was changing boards for a little while and found your thread here. I don't have an answer for you but I know the guys on the 67-72 board will be a lot of help.

This is lazy of me but if you do a search on "rearend" you'll find lots of info because this one has definitely been talked about. 67-72 seems to be the most active part of the board too, so posting there will get lots of traffic.

From previous discussions about this, it seems to me that the rearend is a direct swap from a 73-87 truck if your truck is equipped with leaf springs. If I'm wrong about that, someone will point it out.

Sorry I'm not more helpful

Greg
