Re: Camaro rearend for a 58 ?
A friend gave me the rear out of what I think is a 98 Camaro that I was going to try using in my 57, but it's too wide. My original measures 62" from mounting surface to mounting surface and the Camaro one measures something more like 65". I think the 3rd gen f-body rears were narrower. However, I'm pretty sure the disc brakes from the 4th gen rearend can be bolted right on to practically any other 10 bolt rear, so it might still be worth it.

the brakes can be swapped. you just need to find some big front ones to match...

Just a little 3rdGen trivia. The 4th gen rear is wider. Not sure how much, but it is wider. You may be able to change the offset of your wheel to make it work, not sure though? Also not sure if the rear width changed in the AD trucks (47-55)to TF trucks(55-59).
