Re: Blazer hard top retractable

The cycle time with the bed cover and top is about 45-60 seconds.

When I had my old bed cover(leaky and ugly), the top went down in 17 seconds and you could drop it at 60mph on a calm day! Or 40 mph with a 20 mph headwind.

Steel was nice and I guess this one will stay that way, but I think the next one should be from fiberglass and aluminum. Weight matters.

There are still many issues to address on this lid, but the idea works.

By the way, I managed to get this lid on the road 4 months before the first SSR was in public hands.

I am a 16 year member of the 'Blazer Brotherhood', and it amazes me that it took me this long to find this site!

One more thing, ALL Blazer tops look good to me, this top just happened to get personal to me. Will post more later.

The roll pan came from MAR-K out of Oklahoma City. The downside is you have to cut the front framehorns about 2".

NIce job, what did you use for the motor/actuators? How much does it weigh? What did you use to cover the bed?

Electric linear actuators, one for the top(14", 300 pound rating), one for the bed(12", 250 pdr).

I'm afraid to weigh it, but I'm sure it's not maybe 100 pounds over compared to original.
