New member in the SF Bay Area
Hello, I've been a lurker for a while, but now that I bought a Surburban I've signed up as a supporter.
I broke several of my personal rules buying this car (don't buy a car on e-bay, don't buy without a test drive, ...) but it all worked out okay. It's a 72 3/4 ton 2WD, with a 350 and TH400. It looks decent from 20 feet away, lived most of it's life in AZ so it's pretty rust-free (but not entirely so) and mechanically in decent shape. All the money I saved with my "good deal" I have spent making it run reliably - it had sat for a long time, so I've replaced the entire fuel system from tank to carb, plus a few other things. I bought it because the wife got the SUV in the divorce :-( and I've needed something to haul and occasionally tow for my other car projects. I was trying not to turn this into another "project", but I already have, after falling in love with it. Future plans call for new wiring, interior, glass, and eventually body and paint. (okay, so I will try to resist taking the body off the frame...) If I did this right, here's a picture (from the original seller): --steve |

if there is anyone local, I could use an occasional car buddy to help with those "2 person" tasks... I'm relatively new to this area and am always looking to make some new friends. --steve |

Re: New member in the SF Bay Area
Nothing under the driver's door, it's a poor photo, that's a drain in the pavement the car is sitting on. Now that you mention it, it does look interesting...
I've already found this forum to be full of useful information, some of my problems seem to be popular topics: - keep the (broken) factory a/c (with rear a/c) or use aftermarket? - I'd like to put a 67-68 style front sheetmetal on it - which aftermarket parts are crap? - ... Another couple pictures (again, credit the seller): --steve |
