th350 vs. lock out th350

i tried searching but came up just shy of the info i was looking for.

the guy who had my truck before me just had the lockout 350 rebuilt so i dont want to get rid of it if i dont have to. i was just wondering on a stock rebuild how strong are they ? will they hold just as much power as a old school th350 ?

Re: th350 vs. lock out th350

The trans guts are the same. The difference is the lock up clutch in the converter and the fluid path for it.

The converter clutch will not withstand heavy abuse, i.e. 400+ hp in 3rd gear with the clutch locked on. It is designed for 5-10% better fuel economy at highway speeds.

there shoul dbe an electrical circuit that shuts off the clutch at high throttle (or low vacuum).

As long as you aren't putting way too much power to it in 3rd gear it should be fine.

well when i got my truck the little four prong plug had been unplugged so the lockout is not even working.
