Trans swap is 68 suburban
I have a 68 suburban C-10, factory 3 speed manual trans. I want to replace the 3 speed manual with a 350 turbo trans.
Does anybody know rather I need a short or long tail trans for the replacement, also do I need to replace the yoak on the drive shaft or will the factory original shaft work. Your help is apreciated. |

Re: Trans swap is 68 suburban
A short tail 350 will swap in and can use the existing driveshaft as is.

Re: Trans swap is 68 suburban
JimKshortstep4x4 called it right the only thing you need to change is the transmission, trans. linkage & transmission crossmember.
We carry a new style automatic trans crossmember here if interested http://www.gmcpauls.com/auto.transmission.htm for $70.00 GMCPaul |

Re: Trans swap is 68 suburban
Ya I forgot about the trans cooler, Im figuring on a Ididit colum, don't want a floor shifter. I was looking at a trans crossmember from classic performance.
I don't know If i will change radiators or run a external cooler. |

Re: Trans swap is 68 suburban
Do an external cooler, they're much better at cooling the tranny than one in the radiator.
