I friend told me about this chassis his dad had... Its a 79 3/4 ton 4x4.. I have a 84 1/2 ton and I want to swap the axles and springs.. what all is needed??? Is it a direct swap?? and I see this one has a 3in lift.. does it need a drop pitman arm??? I am building a big block powered mud truck and want some good axles under it... Anywho I bought this chassis minus trans and transfer case with good front and back bumpers for the price of hauling it out of his yard.. good deal huh??? he said he bought the truck brand new in 79 and this is all he has of it...kinda sad... Here are the pics!

The rear is a full floating 14 bolt, the dog kennel is in the way of the front. But if i had to guess the front would be a Dana 44, i see it's full time 4x4 (no lock out hub's) Could be corp. 10 bolt front, if the front cover is squared off in shape it's a 44, if the diff. cover is rounded on the side's it's a 10 bolt. The axle's will bolt right in, you will need to use the rear u-bolt plate's because of the 14 bolt's bigger axle tube's. Look's like some home made front lift block's w/ stock spring's......throw those away!!!! 4" lift spring's are cheap and safe!! As far as steering, a steering arm would cost a little more than a steering block, but is stronger! Good luck with you'r project!!!! Crawdad...

Yeah, good parts if they are cleaned up. the 14 bolt will serve you well, and a 44 front is a good axle as long as you dont baja it too much. That thing also has a NP203 transfer case, so if you could get your hands on a 205 you could put together a 203/205 doubler pretty easy.

Ok thanks guys..now is the 14bolt full floater that good one or is the semi floater the good one??? also the transfer case doesnt come with it. I will be using the factory one out of the 84 4x4..

That is the lighter duty 10 bolt front axle. The only real difference is in the lock-out hub mounting....so ,yes you can use your hubs.
The heavier style set-up uses the "bolt-on" type lock-outs, but all of the internals, (gears, axles, etc.) are the same.

BTW, the full-floater is the better of the rear axles.

The full floater is heavier duty vs semi-float. The leaf spring hangers may need to be moved to use the 3/4 springs. The spring perch's on the 3/4 should work. But I would measure them to make sure.
