73-87er's...
Having experience in what it takes to moderate these forums, with all the hours and hours it takes to do it, I think we need to start posting our off topic stuff in the proper forums. After all, we must all remember what this forum is for, technical questions and discussions.
All of our BSing makes it a lot harder to find an answer to anything, if you are looking for one. I like shooting the bull as good as the next person, but this fourm doesn't belong to us. We have to abide by the rules, just like everyong else. There are a ton of great folks in the General Discussion forum and I'm quite sure they would love to have us join in on their fun. Of course, I don't have any right to tell anyone what to do anymore, but I'm asking as a favor. What'cha say?

I agree
I agree with you completely Swervin. I was thinking of how to say it but you put it very simply. This is a truck forum after all. We are all big boys (and girls) here and we should understand that rules and guidelines are there for a reason.

Well, actually, this sounds similar to the reasons we vacated the last place. Now, unfortunately, it seems that both places combined see less action than we did before. Maybe I'm crazy though. . .

If all you guys wanna do is BS and post pics of poster girls, then maybe I'm in the wrong place...personally, that's not why I joined this forum. I stay out of the general areas of all forums because I post and read seven different ones daily and am there to either help someone with the specific subject matter or be helped.
Normally I don't mind a bit of chit chat here and there, but this place has been littered by it recently. I wasn't gonna say anything, but since you mentioned it (and thanks for that), I for one would really appreciate the separation. I also don't think any of the ladies on the forum really want to see the postings that I saw in the general forum....so come on guys, let's keep this forum clean and truck oriented....

I was in the 73-87 parts board a second ago as I'm looking for a particular part and was glad to see alot of activity on it. When I first joined this board, there were not many people in the 73-87 boards. Glad that has changed. I own a 69 so I just hang out on the 67-72 boards and the general discusion board but I definitely welcome all of you to the general discusion board - it too is finally getting a lot of traffic.

I'm only trying to save everyone some headaches. As you can see, this is not going to be tolerated. So, why not go ahead and post in the correct forum to begin with. If all you are wanting to do is chat anyway, why does it matter. Rules are rules, like it or not. If this is all I'm asked not to do, I can very easily live with it. How about you folks?
I went though this at CT and is in part of why I left. I heard flack all the time about how easy I was, by letting everyone post anything they wanted to. I tried to take a stand on the matter and you see who lost. I'm no moderator here, but I want it to be a nice place for folks to come to get help. This is why I come to these forums, to give and get help. They have instant messenger and other chat software for BS'ing. Why do you think they are going to let us post what we want and the rest of the 6000 members not? We are not some kind of special group, are we? This forum does not belong to me or any of us, and we have to abide by the rules set forth by the owner, just like CT. One thing different over here, they have selling and buying forums. They are a lot more tolerant of what we say and talk about. There is none of the PC crap we had to put up with over there. I like it here and I intend to stay. So in order to keep the peace with the higher ups, I will abide and follow the rules they tell me to follow. This is just my take on it. Next?? Mike |

I agree. I think we (including myself) need to keep the Chit Chat in the right place. Let's make it easier on the higher ups this way and keep bandwith moving better.

I can understand putting really off topic posts in the chit-chat area, but every once in a while there are some of us who want to ask everyone on here a question thats off topic. I depend on your guy's [and gals ] opinions and somtimes need em for other things. I dont see any harm in a post like that every once in a while.

Hey Mike, I agree with you 100%.
BUT...... I was thinking, this forum is great, but do you have any room on your site to make a vB board? This is a new beginning, and a great site itself. But maybe we can have a place where we can BS with the guys we know? I have no problem going into General Discussion, but like I said in another post. Most of our BS stuff is only things we'd like to share with the guys/gals we know already, inside jokes and such. Just throwing some ideas. Maybe some of you will agree.

I belong to several email lists on Yahoo...they are much easier to circulate the personal stuff and inside jokes you speak of than taking up space on a board like this one. The messages would go to everyone on that list at the same time and it's much faster than going to a web page and surfing through all the posts.
Yoiu can also post all the pics you want (as long as they're not too big) and they don't care if they're tasteful or not....
