Recent drive by and stop
Well today we were driving home frm school at 3ish and we passed a usual car lot and I yelled "DAD A 72! PULL OVER!" So we did, we looked at it and I took a lot of pics. The truck was repo'd The guy said, make me an offer, first I said 1600, then we went back out with keys and looked inside it and popped the hood etc. Battery was dead so he put a jump on it, tried to start it, normal "new car salesman" flooded it. So my dad tried, nothing. Then we kept looking and looking, and then I said welp, how about 700? He was really considering it, and me knowing how much I hate salesmen, made sure I said loudly each bad thing I saw, and mentioned nothing about the good things. As you can see it was a highly optioned truck. I'll be back Thursday with more money and their mechanic will start it up for us, I'll take more pics then. Lots of bondo for cab corners, and some on the rockers, some bubble rust, and a couple misaligned body parts. Overall it would be a good drive/worker. Pics will explain better.
Be patient, slow internet, pics will take a bit.

Re: Recent drive by and stop
Thanks guys, and I just looked at the salesman's card he gave me and my dad, the back of it looks like a 100$ bill and says "Send us a Costumer and this $100 is Yours to Keep!" Hmm, someone go there and say I sent you please.

Re: Recent drive by and stop
Not a bad looking truck for $700. I'd drive it. Is it an auto or manual trans? If auto, where is the shift indicator? If manual, where is the clutch pedal?

Re: Recent drive by and stop
the truck confuses me. the options sheet shows its a manual due to the heavy duty clutch, it someone looks that someone removed the clutch pedal, added an auto tranny, and changed the column but didnt put an gear indicator on the column?

Re: Recent drive by and stop
Nice find.I`ll roll in it.It`s an original 6 cyl/3spd that`s had a later small block and automatic put in.

Re: Recent drive by and stop
it ain't the original column guys
This photo shows where the pointer was, you can see the screw holes for the perndle, and then you can also see the column was green, and thhe truck is a blue respray, over blue stock paint. While it may well have been green at one time between the two blue paint jobs, I doubt they would go through the trouble of painting the dash on the recent respray and not paint the column. |

Re: Recent drive by and stop
If I get the truck should I put it back to manual or fix the problems and keep it auto?

Re: Recent drive by and stop
do you want to shift gears yourself, or let the truck do it for you?
If it is the former... how much money you willing to spend to make it a stick? I'd leave it an automatic personally. I've driven a few of these with 3 and 4 speeds and honestly, just didn't care for it. |

Re: Recent drive by and stop
I have never cared about auto or manual. I would go to a junkyard and get a Camaro 5 speed. But for a driver I think I will leave it an auto. (A bit easier to do a burnout. )
Maybe I'll be able to drive it to the meet this Saturday. Dont have the money for gas.
