can C4 corvette parts be used on a 79?

So i acquired a 1987 C4 corvette and i am planning on using as much as this car as possible on my truck. I know i can make the drivetrain work but how much of the suspension can be carried over?

With some work, a lot of it. Check out Porterbuilt's stuff. I know he's used some c4 stuff and all of that, and I'm sure he'll be a great resource about what can and can't even if he hasn't used it all...

scoti is a board member on here and he was working on a disc brake setup for our trucks that can be used with c4 brake components....its a nice kit and all you'll need is the hub/bracket that he did, and you can use the rest of the brake setup from the vette....do a search on this forum and it'll pop up.

Sorry.... The kit I was helping with utilizes C5 Vette stuff. Porterbuilts C4 Dropmember allows the use of the forged alum upper & lower a-arms, brakes, hubs, & spindles from the C4. You ditch the stock springs for coilovers or Shockwaves.

I have one of these for my 67 because I was able to get the complete C4 suspension w/brakes for a competitve price vs. a set of ART tubular arms by themselves. Basically..... I was able to shave some weight from the front of the truck while adding it back to my wallet .

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: can C4 corvette parts be used on a 79?

sound good so far....will the independent rear fit in there as well? I am liking the suspension setup and the car drives like it is on rails so i was thinking all the better for my truck I am already planning on using the engine/wiring/transmission in this truck and more than likely the digital dash will make its way in there with a custom dash. Just looking for more ways to use my 'parts' car and not have to buy too many more parts.

I know Porter has done several Vette IRS set-ups in trucks. Search the 67-72 build projects for 'Project: SwingSet'. There should be pics of a frame Porter built for a 68 swb truck to give you an idea of what he can make for you.

I have been looking at the proterbuilt front and rear for quite some time. I really like the way its built. I am thinking i might just get the porterbuilt front and rear and sell off my other parts to fund that!
