Think i've found me a truck!
I've already purchased my S10 frame (thanks Barry) and i've been searching for a decent body. I got on craigslist tonight and i think i've found a local one! I called the guy and he wasn't much of a talker and he seemed country as ever. I asked him what he is trying to get out of it and he said $1,500. Its 100% stock and its straight 6 was running last year. I haven't seen it yet but i'm going to check it out tomorrow. From talking with him this truck might be a low budget Patina build for the time being until i'm able to fully get into it. I'll bring my camera and post pics of it this weekend to see what you guys think. I'm thinking of offering him $800 (the wifey is going to hate me for this ) and go from there.

i didn't get a chance today but tomorrow afternoon i'm going to make a small trip to go check it out. I'm slowly begging the wifey to let me get it.

Re: Think i've found me a truck!
If I could have found one just like this I would be just looking to change the chassis with drivetrain only. That pantina is what I wanted originally, but when the body needs work and there's holes everywhere you have to do a body rebuild. You cant have half new body panels and half pantina IMO.

Re: Think i've found me a truck!
Is it a '54 or '55 1st series? The cab corner windows are nice(AKA "Nu Vue"). Short beds are usually more desireable. I paid $1200 for my 5 window '54 longbed and drove it home. After a carb re-build, I drove it for another 2 years before getting a new daily driver. What are you planning on using the truck for after the chassis and drivetrain?

Re: Think i've found me a truck!
I'd suggest replacing the stock door latches and upgrading at least the front brakes to a 10"+ rotor. Is there an issue with the hood latch? What will it take to get it running? Ask him if he has the '54 hood emblem as they aren't made anymore. Just my .02

Re: Think i've found me a truck!
The guy doesn't care about the truck. he just wants the money and wants it gone. He "said" he had it running last year. I don't remember if the hood latch is good or not.

Re: Think i've found me a truck!
Before you drive it home make sure the latch is secure. I made that mistake once with another ride. It rippled my hood/roof and shattered my windshled.
