65 235 Engine Color or maybe 66 250
I have a 65 LB Fleet and was trying to find out what the Engine was originally painted.
However I believe the 235 was replaced with a Chevelle 66' 250. I'm way up in the air to which color to go with depending on which was originally painted what. I still need to verify that the 250 is a 250, which I more than likely will do this winter when I tear the front end off to get down to the frame so I can prep it like I did my back half with POR15. Anyways anybody have any info on what a: 1) 65 L6 235 would be 2) 66 L6 250 Chevelle would be Heck worse case if I can figure out what a 66 would be. Any photos or links would be great so I can get an idea on how it was painted or what wasn't painted on the motor. This is what I'm working with. |

Can't help you on the colors but in '65 it would have had a 230, not a 235. 1962, I think, was the last year for the 235. 1966 was the first year for the 250.

Oppps, you are correct. I meant to say 230 not 235.

I thought I had saved a pic of a stocker, but I can't find it...
see right by your #1 spark plug where it is kinda blue? that is close to the color these 6's were. |

Yeah those guys are insane when it comes to those engines. They are the one that pointed me to the fact I have a 66 Chevelle motor. No indication if its a 230 or 250 without looking at the tops of the pistons, but that will come soon enough. Last edited by kizer; 10-16-2008 at 11:42 AM. |

Those numbers behind you dipstick will tell you what engine you have. inliners.org should have the answers. Color wise I'd go with Chevy orange.
