AirBags

Hey guys! What size airbags are you guys putting on the front of these AD trucks? Which brand are you guys going with? The reason I ask is because my chassis builder(Tylordurben) told me to get RE 7 for the rear but when I bought my heidts IFS it came with AirLift #2500 Dominators for the front. I know these are common for mini trucks. Can I use these or just go with RE7 at all four corners?

You can use the 2500s. I have the RE7s on mine though.

I went with the airlift 2500s up front and 2600 in the rear. Lays frame and running boards and bumper so i say it does the job pretty good.

Damn iokua80, "thats slicker than the lane that im bowling on". I was gonna go the patina way but end up doing to much bodywork to turn back. So these trucks are comparable to mini trucks when it comes to weight? Thats all those little mini's use is 2500(RE6) bags

In an essence, yes. The same bag that minis use is essentially the same bag as a full size. It's where the amount of psi comes into play on whether or not you use a bigger bag. Bigger bag obviously means you can run higher pressure. However, you can use the 2500 for the front since you are most likely not wanting to bounce the front end off the ground. At least I'm assuming you're not wanting to. The bigger bag also means it takes more clearance around it so that it does not rub. Kinda personal preference really.

Ok, cool. Ill keep the 2500's. Do you drive yours daily. I wanted to make sure everything was synced in as best as possible cause I dont like fiddling around taking parts off and on. Thanks

IOKUA80, dont you mean 2600s up front and 2500s in the rear? if not. you should swap them around and you will get a much nicer ride!

Nah i'm running 2500 up front and 2600 in the rear. I ran the same set up on my bagged and bodydropped s10. It rides pretty good. Don't have any complaints at all about it.

It will get more lift @ less air pressure with a bigger bag in the front which will equal better ride so id go with the 2600 size bag which in your case is the re-7

You can run a bigger bag up front if you have enough clearance for it. Seems like minis use 2500s up front since that most can be put in easily with minimal cutting. At least that's what I did on this truck and the bodydropped s10. My 54 is on an s10 frame FYI. Not wanting to major cutting is why I went with 2500s

we always run 2600 size bags(re-7) in front of S10's and have done 2800(re-8) on one in the past.

is that with just trimming the upper spring pocket or actually cutting a ton out? I thought 2500s was the biggest you could put in without major cutting but it looks like i'm wrong.

Have to do a good bit of trimming for the bigger bags but its worth it in the end.... Nice truck BTW man

Ok. I didn't think it was just a little. I'm sure the end result is well worth it though. I've thought about going a bigger bag up front but I was worried I'd have to basically have to rebuild the whole front clip just for the bags. Might have to do some measuring......

Thanks for the compliment. I had a lot of fun building it. Took about 4 months working nights and weekends on it. I've had fun driving the hell out of it the last 2 months.

HMMMMMMM very interesting. Not as bad as i thought it would be. Now the wheels are turning again. Guess it wouldn't be too hard to upgrade the bags since I'm tearing out the small block and putting a bigger cam in along with fixing that damn oil leak. hahahahaThanks for the pictures.
