My first truck is a 1949 GMC pick up, and I need ideas
I got my truck for $1700, it's in decent shape, but it has no interior, what would you suggest i put in it for seats? I am not putting it back to original. I'm also not sure of what it's sitting on right now, my dad thinks it might be a S-10 frame, if anyone can tell me where, I can get pictures of any specific place that will help ID what it is. I need to know so i can put a gas tank in it. If you wan to know any specifics that might help, please let me know, you'll just be helping me out. I appreciate any and all help i get.

Just go to a salvage yard and look for some seats that might interest you. You can go to Stovebolt.com and the have a nice gallery to look at.

Re: My first truck is a 1949 GMC pick up, and I need ideas
Another gmc...I'm starting to think GMC is still making these trucks. They are putting them through a chemical patina and parking them out in feilds across the US to fool us. Congrats and welcome to the club. 54 Jimmy is right, without pics of your frame it's kinda hard to say what frame it is. Take a look at my thread, you can see what seats I went with. 1sik52 is right about the salvage yard. Hit it up and see what's out there. If you plan on buckets your possibilities are endless. However, if you plan on a bench seat, measure your cab and take the measuring tape with you.

I don't think they do. Why don't we start a thread on interiors?

holy cow, another GMC! What have we started! glad to see another jimmy build, & welcome to the forum. Just view everybodys build threads, their are plenty of pictures of diff. style seats on this forum to get some ideas, personaly I don't like a seat back protruding into the back glass when viewed from behind, but thats just my opinion..

Re: My first truck is a 1949 GMC pick up, and I need ideas
Amen to that. No Highbacks.
Welcome to the board and to being the owner of an AD truck. I've probably had every style of seat in my 48 that can be stuffed in one. The most comfortable seat before I chopped it was the stock seat that Bobby Russel of Waco, Tx did a beautiful tuck and roll job on. After I chopped it I had a 66 Toronado seat that looked great in there and really fit the truck. It sat three people but had the individual backs like buckets. The bucket seats in my wifes old 91 Maxda 626 LX sit pretty comfortable and have pretty straight backs plus the head rests remove to get the profile down. My buddy has an 80 or so Chevelle style bench seat for his 48 that appears to fit the truck pretty well. Now about those photos that your were going to post to show us the truck. |

Hey csc2k5, welcome to the board! Is your home town Aurora, Ontario, Canada?
Anyway ...... YES a thread on interiors would be great as I'd like to start this winter to cover up my doors and behind the seats. I know "Rod Doors" sells kits for our AD trucks but mine is strictly a driver and I can't afford the $2000 I had been quoted up here in Canada. |

not yet, still working on it. Do you know where on the net you found that pic? I think it was taken at GatorDrag when they shot it for Sport Truck magazine.
