2 inch drop springs, wheel geometry
So after some searching and reading the question i have is with a 70 with all stock suspension and drum brakes can i run a two inch drop spring in the front and still be able to properly align my wheel camber and not chew my front tires to pieces? If so is there any addtional parts needed. If there are people running this setup are you guys running adjustable camber kits? I know that spindles are prefered, but i am not ready to commit this kind of money right now to swap to disc. Thanks in advance for the help.

Unless your suspension is greatly worn already, you should be able to get the camber back out to where it needs to be with the 2 inch springs. I usually run 3 inch springs and have always been able to (barely) get the camber set back right.
Eventually, you run out of bolt room for the stack of shims, but I never have yet. Some guys say they can't get enough shims in place to get it adjusted, but I suspect they have underlying problems with their suspension components.

Well i am replacing the ball joints upper and lower, tie rod ends, and shocks. anyhting eles you suggest before i get it an aligment?

Check your control arm bushings upper and lower, idler arm, and pitman arm for slop.
You should be good to go for many happy years of use after that.

Do you know how many degrees of camber two inches will input? Or how many shims i should add?

I don't think so....I would think that they would sell, but probably not enough to make it profitable. Most guys are looking to convert to disc anyway, so rather than spend the money twice, they just save for the conversion.

Ya kinda lookinf for a budget hot rod truck build. My drums work excellent and the are pretty much new. They are power so i don't have any problems with them and they see limited road time. I am just hunting for the right stance.

I guess i am looking for other guys running just drop springs in the front and trying to find out what problems/advantages (besides cost) there is. I am getting ready for a cruise and would like the pros and cons of this idea. I plan on running a 4" drop leaf in the back. So i guess before i go in this direction i need some sound advice.

85 swb 2" front drop springs 2" drop shackles no issues drives nice handles great.

I have 3 in drop springs on my '69, I'll let you know how far off stock the springs put them and what all went into getting it aligned in a few weeks when I goto do it. Though I have no 'before' measurements on my truck's camber, this should help you some.

Has anyone ever run taller ball joints? I heard of many of the guys over at lateral-g.net doing this to improve geometry.
