Picture of my truck
First off I wan't to say HI. I've been a member for about a year, and never introduced my self. My name is Dustin. I live in Denham Springs, La. My truck is is A 63 swb step side. I'm in the middle of doing the disc brake conversion. I have all the parts exept for the springs. I ordered the over a month ago, but they must be coming horse and buggie. Anyway I bought this truck when I was 15. I just turned 29. The truck was originally a fleet side with a 230 I-6 with a three speed. It now has a 305/th350. The motor isn't any good. Cracked block or head. Water in the oil. I have a bunch of parts for it, just trying to find the time to work on it. I still need a few more things though. It has been a slow process. Well I hope the picture works. I have more but I'm at work right now and there at home. Hope yall enjoy. Dustin

Welcome!
I used to live on Range, right by the old Carol theatre. I sure miss the good grub down there.

To quote somebody (Ol Curt? 502?) "Yard by yard, life is hard. Inch by inch, life's a cinch."
Best advice I've heard in a long while. Keep at it! |

Re: Picture of my truck
I sympathize with you in regards to finding time. Its taking me about 2 months per body panel. What color is it going to be when you finish it? Are you going to keep the 305 or go for a 350?

Re: Picture of my truck
I got my spindles mounted today. Ran into a problem. I forgot to order the adjusting sleeves from cpp. Don't know if I need the short or long ones though. The outer tie rods are for a 71. That is what the spindles came off of. The inners are off the 63. If anyone knows PLEASE help. My springs are suposed to be here this week. 3" front and 5" in the back. I put all new upper and lower balljoints. And new outer tie rods. Anything else I'm missing?

Re: Picture of my truck
I forgot to add brakelines to my list of stuff I have.
Thanks for all the welcomes. My plans are to finish the suspension and brakes. Build me a mild 350 or maybe even a 383. The tranny is a turbo 350 with a shift kit. I bought it for $75 dollars a long time ago. The guy I got it from was gonna put it in his dirt car. He didn't know if it worked or not. I just took a chance. The body still needs a lot of work. I bought a new weatherstripping kit from GMC Pauls about a year ago, with big plans to do the body work. After many hours of cutting, welding, and grinding, I realized that bodywork is not for me. It took me about 40 hours to do one fender. I bought the lower patch panel for both fenders. Cut and welded them on. Grinded and welded some more. Finally got that smooth. Then come the body filler. Simple? That is what I thought. Well this is what it turned out to look like. |
