I want to rebuild my tilt column myself. I need bearing part numbers and where to buy them. My internet searches didn't help much.

i need these too..

page 51 has a $29 bearing and the plastic retainer but i'm not sure if it's what I need.

67101 & 02 you may need the retainer too. But that looks like the parts you need. The one I did wasn't in too bad of shape. I packed the bearing in bearing grease. Most play was found in the retaining torque screws

I think there was a thread a while back showing the process of getting to and re-tightening the retaining screws.

and some instructions that another member posted. Hardest part I had was the retaining pins that require a machine screw inserted into them and a slide hammer to pop them out...

Yes there is a special service tool for removing the bowl from the shift tube, DO NOT under any circumstances follow the advice of the 5th illistration in post #7 "using a socket knock the shift tube through the plate lock and out bottom of the jacket" as this will damage the bowl housing and the shift tube and cause the column to function improperly.
The proper tool for this job is Kent moore #J-22551, and for the reinstallation of the bowl use Kent Moore #J-22549, it is highly unlikely you will successfully complete either the removal or installation of the bowl without these special service tools.
Consult the service manual for the 1971 c10 for the entire procedure, I will provide a link to a thread that will point you to a site so you can download the .pdf version below.

I've rebuilt a couple of these, and didn't need any "special" tools for it.

Nope, I have a box of parts to prove it...

Like I said, the retaining pins in the pictures mention about using a socket, washer and machine screw to pull them out. That would work or a slide hammer and the screw.

I have a tilt column that the wheel will only turn 90 degrees and stops. Is this the knuckle or something else? Thanks

I assume that it's not in a truck, if so then I think it would have to be the knuckle part. I have a spare one but the shaft was cut off so it's only good for parts.

I've been looking for parts for while. For MSGROSS, you mention you have a parts column. Does it still have the shift lever detent spring (the one that puts the tension on the shift lever)? I need one and have been unable to find one anywhere. Cnut

I have a question about the top column sleeve (collar that the turn signal lever goes through). I understand you need a puller but when I used mine it didn't want to move. Is there anything else on the inside of that collar that needs to be compressed so it will slide off easier??

That knuckle would really have to be screwed up to only turn 90 degrees.

Hardest part was figuring out I had to pull the side pins out to slide the collar off. I used a pr vice grips on a screw and a mallet.

nope, it should slide off easily, just remove the flasher knob... or if it's a red flasher knob then pull the entire turn signal mechanism first. I have only taken a few apart but they come right off for me.
