79 ford 4x4 resto
This is a ford I did for a friend. I did everything from the ground up myself

This might be the only safe place to hide a Furd thread... nice work..
I have a buddy that's on a 10 year 79 Bronco build... he doesn't work on it much as you might have guessed...

Re: 79 ford 4x4 resto
I love it! When I was growing up my dad had a 79 F-250 4x4. I have lots of memories riding around in it. It was fun in snow storms up in NY where we lived.
Your friend should be proud of that, you did great work (just tell him to find you a fleetside bed to paint up for it for him )

Re: 79 ford 4x4 resto
Thanks guys. It was alot of fun to do(even if it is a ford) Great learning tool. Other than drivetrain being left in the frame everything was dissassembled. Now I just can't wait to get the 64-66 I want, and do the same thing for myself.

Re: 79 ford 4x4 resto
Out of all the years of ford trucks the late 60s and 70s styles are my favorite. I have always admired them for their styling and dependability. My dad had a 70, he said it was the last good ford that he ever owned. He unfortunately had a string of 4 bad brand new ford's in a row after that turning him into a Chevy man.
I almost got a very nice original 77 1/2 ton ford truck one time. It had a 351 and would literally make new tires bald in a matter of minutes. It was extremely solid with no rust or major dents. My buddies grandpa had done some horse trading for it and let it sit in his yard for a couple of years. His grandpa was a drunk and a scrap metal man. Anytime he needed beer money he would find whatever that was metal laying around and would take it to the scrap yard for a few quick bucks, including running and driving vehicles if he was truly desperate. Knowing this I said that if you ever want to get rid of the truck I will give you twice what it will bring on the scales. Well one day I came over and the truck was gone. He told me he came by but no one was home (which was a lie because I was home all day that day, he was in such a hurry to get drunk that he simply didn't want to stop in to see if I was home) so he took it to the scrap yard. I was pretty upset. Letting a good running and driving vehicle get scrapped because you can't control your need for a quick buzz was all I was thinking. A real shame. Thanks. I have been lurking again and posting few things here and there. Old truck needs some attention which I am about to give it. Seems I have a brake leak(think it is in the rear)but see no fluid hitting the ground. So right now the truck is sitting alot. Actually after I get it road worthy again hoping to sell it or make a trade for a 64-66 stepside. Here are some pics. It needs a good bath.
