Wierd Find...Hillbilly Limo?

Saw this today when I made a junkyard run. Thought for sure it was Jed Clampett's chick magnet. They told me it's a 1960 airport taxi. Couldn't believe the size of that thing.

It's for sale. He wants 4K for it. Don't know any details about it, like engine, tranny, etc. It would definitely make a heckuva party wagon.

Re: Wierd Find...Hillbilly Limo?

My brother just finished a rebuild on a 1962 Belair airport limo.
It had 4 doors on one side and only a front and rear door on the other.
It now has 8 functional doors.

Re: Wierd Find...Hillbilly Limo?

Someones going to say it, wanna get some good pix of the 2nd door? Like opened up, pix of what they did to make that work. Those doors look great, with not too much of a filler panel.

X2.....I noticed that they used a universal looking slider window in the doors as well as in the back beyond the doors. Similar to the Suburban sliders but appear smaller.

I had missed the sliders. They would be a lot cheaper than making a new regulator.

$4k is a steal! Would make a great surf wagon!

Needs one of those special rear ends where the rear wheels move with the front a bit.

Re: Wierd Find...Hillbilly Limo?

Hahah, Dual steering would be really cool. Could you imagine pulling in and trying to parallel park that thing? You'd have to do it with Walkie Talkies becasue hand signals isn't going to cut it on that bad boy.

Surf Wagon? Your talking at least 6 boards on that thing. Man its HUGE.

Re: Wierd Find...Hillbilly Limo?

Why is it that rich and famous people have no taste in cars/trucks? If I were a millionare, you bet I'd find one of those and make a modern limo out of it! To hell with Hummers, Lincolns, etc.....
