removing steering column

ok, so i'm breaking down my '50 and can't seem to figure out how to get the column out. i have the gear box off, and i got the gear on the end of the column out, but how the hell do i get this plate off? w/o it off i cannot get it through the firewall.

I don't see any pins or screws holding it on. I started to go at it with a BFH, but didn't want to mess something up inside in case there's a pin i'm not seeing that needs to be pulled.

here's a pic of what i'm talking about.

btw, my build thread is in my sig if you want to check it out.

Re: removing steering column

I seem to recall that it is a press fit and I don't remember any pins or anything. I think you can just knock it off the column housing.

Re: removing steering column

Sawzall and an aftermarket tilt column worked for me. I couldn't get it off either. So when in doubt, cut that f@cker out!
