I just dropped in a rebuilt 305 in my 81 K5 Blazer. Tossed AIR pump in trash, cut ltubing on both the inside and outsided of the exhaust manifolds, crimped them and rolled them up. Needed to buy a different altenator belt (think it was 15445 at Autozone). Routing the vacuum lines took some clear headed thinking (- the beer).

Do you have any pics of your engine bay? It would be greatly appreciated if you do.

injection removal
Hmmm.... I have an '84 with a 305 LE9 that's had all the stuff removed.... air pump's not there, tubes on exhaust monifolds cut and crimped closed, and everything in between is gone. Vacuum system is stripped down to the basic distributor advance and a pcv hose. I get the fun of putting it all back, never seeing the original layout.
So.. watcha gonna do with all that junk you pull off?? Most of it I plan to buy new, most of it is sold at the parts house, but will only be able to get basic components, won't get mounting brackets for the air pump, preformed hoses, misc mounting hardware, etc.

Instead of cutting and crimping the injection lines you can unbolt them from the manifold and cap the holes with brass plugs. These brass plugs can be found at checker or autozone, you may need to ask about them because they keep them behind the counter.
Just remove the smog pump and replace the belt for the alternator. You may need to keep the bracket that holds the smog pump there so that the alternator still has the same attachment or you could fab something up like a spacer or something. I really dont remember if they are attached to the same bracket or not. I do not think they are but keep it in mind anyway. Run a search about adding smog equippment in this forum and youll find another post I did for a guy which explained what he needed to get so that he could pass emissions. That will give you a good idea of what to do.

well...it was gonna go in the trash....but sounds like you need it...the only things i can think of that i MIGHT need...would be the air pump bracket if it's part of the alternator bracket...but other then that i don't think there's anything else i'd need....i'll send everything i pull off, (pump, bracket*if i don't need it*, vacuum hoses, preformed hoses that go to the air manifold that goes into the exhaust manifold, etc, minus the air injection tubes that go into the exhaust manifold...cause i'll have to cut and crimp them too...i'd take them out but they look rusted into the manifold and i rather not risk them breaking and having holes in the manifold that i can't fill or fix. As far as I know the air pump is working..it's not making any funny noises or anything that i know of and everything appears to be there, so if you want...just let me know....how's 10 + shipping?
Also....anyone know how to run the pcv vacuum hose and the vacuum advance hose once i get rid of all the smog vac hoses?

Alright, I'll be waiting for it. Gonna go out today to see what it all entails and possibly take it off today...it's supposed to be like 50 degrees out today but windy and rainy and a possible thunderstorm (in december???), but that's what the weather man says...but we all know he's only right about a 1/4 of the time..hehe
