5 lug conversion questions
I have tried the search button, but haven't ran into solid infomation.
I have a 1968 c10 and want to swap my rear end from 6 lug to 5 lug. My plan is to run a posi rear end and disk brakes. The truck will be equipped with air suspension. I know board members offer disk brake brackets, but I just dont know what route to go. I dont know if there is a rear end that comes posi,disk brakes,and five lug that I could just swap. (Probably Not) What do you guys think would be the best combination? Or Where would be a good place to buy needed parts? .

For the '63-72 era of trucks, you will want to look no farther than Early Classic Enterprises (ECE). They offer a wide assortment of parts, including 5 lug front/rear conversion kits. Their prices might be a little higher than CPP, but you are guaranteed that if you have issues they are only a call away and will be able to walk you through the install step by step... GUARANTEED!
If you need some information about the installation of the front/rear kits, Classic Trucks just ran two features (one last month, one this month) with the install completely documented. I hope this will help with a portion of your question.

Not sure about the width but my '96 Impala SS was factory built like that - Posi, 3.08 gears, disc brakes, 5on5 bolt pattern. It was also a 4 link with coils on top of the axle. Would think it could serve your purposes well if you want to 4 link & use bags where the coils were.
BTW, changed to a 3.73 from similar year truck to get that pig off the line a little quicker. Looked at your build thread but no updates since Jan. If you have any recent pics, post them up - looks great.

Thanks for your comments, I hope more people chime in to post thier opinions.
Well if the impala rear end works that would be great, but im not to sure what you mean about the width can you explain. I was thinking of doing a 2 link...Will the impala rear end still work? I have a friend that repairs wrecked cars and goes too many junk yard and he could help me find just about any part. I have not posted any pic on my build thread because I cant find my camera's battery. I guess I will buy another one soon!

if u can find a 79 caddi they came with disc brakes on 12 bolt 5 on 5 pattern, 4link and coils. probably wanna get an aftermarket posse or locker. if someone ordered a vehicle with factory possi, they did it for a reason, via racing or towing. i know if i had a factory possi id would have been hard on it.

He is referring to the width of the axle from side to side. If it's a bit narrower, then it might be an advantage if you want to run a wider wheel with a really deep dish.

will the later C-10 12 bolts 5 lug axles work to swap in to a '68 12 bolt?
