Door adjustment and hinge pocket captured nut source
Does anyone know where I could find a captured nut and cage like the one inside of the red circle? I need it for an upper pillar pocket on a 57. The pocket is in good shape and I don't really want to buy one just for this.
Oh, and if anyone has any good suggestions on door adjustment, I'm all ears

You would think someone would make a after market cage and nut, but in all the books I've look at I haven't seen them. Your best bet would be to get one off a junk cab. or do like I did and fab one up your self. It took me about 30min.. It might not have looked factory, but no one can see it anyway.

Not sure if the nut is still secured or not but if it is you can also tap it out to the next largest size. I did not on the doors to my 54. I went with a coarse thread tap.

Re: Door adjustment and hinge pocket captured nut source
Ace Hardware has them too in the bins. Slip on style and caged that you spot weld into place. Actually they have quite a bit of stuff, I cruise the aisle just looking at the different things trying to figure out cool applications to use them. MartinSR has a tech article on door, panel and hood adjusting, including the sequence. If you can't find it on this site camaros.com has all of his stuff. Look in the paint and body sections.

Re: Door adjustment and hinge pocket captured nut source
Thanks for the tip on Ace. I've been buying most of my fasteners there lately, they have about the best selection anywhere.
