72 Suburban lowering kit
Hey everyone, new guy here.
I just purchased a 1972 Suburban and I plan on lowering it a bit, but not too much. I have been looking at drop kits and my question is this - Early Classics has a 2/4 drop kit with no drop spindles, do you have to have the drop spindles to lower the truck, or can I just use the new springs and shocks that the kit includes? Not looking for a drastic drop, just want to lower the ride a bit. If anyone has any recommendations on this and what size rims and tires might look good, I really would appreciate any feedback. Thanks |

Re: 72 Suburban lowering kit
The Early Classic kit is fine. You can easily do a 2/4 drop without lowering spindles.
Just install the kit and have the alignment done and you're good to go. You likely don't want my recomendations as to wheels and tires. I'm a dinosaur stuck in the 80s. All my trucks run either Cragar SS wheels or rally wheels with BF Goodrich tires. Size 15 inch of course.

Great, thanks for the feedback.
You are not the only one stuck in the 80's. I love the Cragars and the Rallies. Also like th old style Smoothies! Just might have to go with a 16" wheel on the Suburban. |

Re: 72 Suburban lowering kit
Have one more questions. Should I get the kit that includes the rear shock relocation brackets? Will this type of lowering effect the rear shock angles that much that I will need the deluxe kit?
Thanks |

Re: 72 Suburban lowering kit
I'd spring for the relocation brackets. It's a very nice kit and does noticeably improve the ride of the truck.
