Problem with speakers or deck?
My old nasty cheap tape deck finally quit getting power, so i found another Sony tape deck in the garage and wired it up... Problem i'm having is if i shut the radio or vehicle off, there's no sound. I have to un twist then re attach the speaker wires every time i turn it on to get sound. Does this sound like a ground problem with the speakers? or maybe something with the deck?

Re: Problem with speakers or deck?
Thats weird. Never heard of hat before.
I would have to guess the deck. This doesn't sound like a grounding issue.

Re: Problem with speakers or deck?
That's funny. I have never had the problem either. I called my "electronic" buddy over and he had never had the issue either. Said all he could think of was the deck had issues. When i turn it on and off you can hear it pop in the speakers like it's got power but no sound. Maybe that's why the deck was in the garage to begin with. lol. Can i even buy tape decks anymore? I only use the tape players because of the ipod adapter. And because they're very cheap if you can find them working.

Re: Problem with speakers or deck?
If it wasnt doing it before you switched decks I would assume it's a problem with the newly installed deck. I've had issues with a blown speaker causing the sound to shut off but I've never heard of anything like that each time you turn it on/off.
Before you buy a new deck I would try turning the deck off/on with only one speaker at a time hooked up, then switch speakers. If it's a speaker problem that will tell you which speaker is causing the problem. Did I explain that clearly? Good luck

Re: Problem with speakers or deck?
I found the issue. Bad positive connection at the fuse box. I yanked the wire out and just installed a new power wire. Works like i've never heard now. lol. Great for an old tape deck.
