I got some new toys coming in!
You'll have to wait for more info, but all but one part will be in tomorrow! I'll post pics when they are all in. Can you guess what they might be?

Re: I got some new toys coming in!
The fist wave of parts came in, now I'm just waiting on the other two!
New Edelbrock 750 (I'll need the extra fuel), flex plate and harmonic balancer (my old ones can't be used), MSD coil (I'll need the extra spark) and a set of long tube headers. It feels like it's christmas.. |

Re: I got some new toys coming in!
No, they are
JEGS 30055 - Painted Long Tube Head Painted Long Tube Headers 1-1/2'' Primary 3'' Collector I don't know why there is such a difference between headers when they are all made of the same stuff. So I went with the cheap ones. I would love to get a set of Titanium headers, but I don't have that kind of money.... |

Re: I got some new toys coming in!
Because you are the only one that actually guessed, I'll tell you.
No and yes. No I am not getting those, but they do come in this! SB-Chevy 383ci Base Engine 405HP/440TQ 1-piece rear main seal Jegs has them on sale CHEAP! It would be hard to build one cheaper. It should be here by net week for sure. It's being shipped by truck. So it should make it home by say, Tues. |

Re: I got some new toys coming in!
Ahh, the blueprint stroker motor right? I've had my eye on those for about 4 months now. If I remember correctly its $2700 or $2900 plus freight?
So far I have resisted temptation to pick one up for the old firebird, but, unsure how long I will hold out hehe |

Re: I got some new toys coming in!
They are on sale for 2995 or something close to that. They are under 3k. I say go for it. I've done a lot of looking, to build a 400hp engine you are going to spend 3k. Unless you have your own machine shop and you know how to build. Even with that, these have a 30 month/50,000 mile warranty!
For me, I just couldn't beat that. Plus, I now have a 4bolt main 350 to use in my rock crawler. |

Re: I got some new toys coming in!
I also got one for 86 K10. I got the dressed version. It's in the shop already installed. Just waiting on a few parts to finalize the install. I can't wait to drive it. Going from a 305 with 150,000 miles is going to be totally different. Good luck with your build. I'll take some pics this weekend.

It was supposed to be just a motor swap but turned into a small resto job. The paint is a 6 out 10. Hopefully next week I'll out on the streets terrorizing the young kids in there imports.

Re: I got some new toys coming in! Updated with picts.
Ok, so having a guessing game isn't cool lol, Here is what I have so far. Now waiting on the trans.
Blueprint 405hp-440tq 383. Only had it for 2 hrs and I've already seen something. There is a note that says not to run a vacume advace on here. Why would that be? And don't that mean I will not be able to use the kick down gear in my tranny? If so that will suck! Last edited by 78BO; 05-14-2009 at 09:59 PM. |

because the cam is not creating enough vacume to advance the timing and you should beable to use the kick down

Re: I got some new toys coming in!
Well Im sorry you feel that way. I thought we could be good friends! lol
I found out why they don't want you to use the vacume advance. They just don't want you to advance the timeing more the 36 deg. They say if you do it voids the warranty. I'm going to try and install it all in the next few weeks. Got the trany back this weekend. |
