Hi all I just bought a 68 front clip off a nieghbor they must have cut the frame off behind the cab. Not sure why but the hood, grill and cluster are perfect. the rest is pretty rusted, comes with a 327 and factory interior. I may have some salvageable parts left over when i'm done picking at it. \

I do have a question the dash is perfect including the oe radio and glove box! is there a way to swap out my dash for this one. the po cut the radio section and you know the rest of the story! they mangled it pretty bad. I saw that there is two bolts on each side and it looks to be welded to the cab to?

I hope to pick it up tomorrow but being that there are no wheels and it sits on cinder blocks im sort of stumped! lol hopeing the farmer down the road has a tractor with forks can pick it up for me. will have picks to. any help is appreciated.

There are 30 some odd spot welds behind the windshield that you can drill out to get the whole dash. Or you can cut the good section out and weld it in.

Took some pics today of the front clip. Body is shot but the hood, grill and interior is in great shape! the glass is in great shape to windshield is smoked though. Pretty sure they said it has a 327 can u tell by the picks.

The motor and tranny are still in tact not sure what condition though he drove it until 97.

you can get the dash out easier...

few spot welds on the sides near the doors... and sawzall under the dashpad (remove it of course).

if you pass on anything let me know your buddies contact info..

Great tip the dash pad will cover the welds! I'm a rookie at this stuff but learning fast. lol

and it's not solid metal under the dash pad. They have large openings with tabs of metal that will make it easy to spot weld back in...

Man i love this site and all you guys for all the help over the past three years. lol I'm hoping to finsh my resto. up this summer. I'm almost ready for paint and with this new front clip i'll have the rest of the parts i need to get her done!

my 68 has an original 327

I want a 327 so bad but I dont know if I will ever have the money to build one. I will prob end up just doing an LS one of these days when I come on some better luck

If it is a solid engine with a good rebuildable block, crank and heads it is worth at a minimum what ever the core charge from an engine rebuilder would be if you were to buy a rebuilt engine. If it is complete engine from aircleaner to oil pan and you could actually start it and hear it run it would be worth what ever someone who just had to have a 327 was willing to offer with cash green money in their hand.
If it was absolutely complete and correct right down to the proper original carb, distributor and brackets and widgets it would be pretty desirable to someone who is restoring a similar truck to showroom condition.
As a pig in a poke engine sittiing on a pallet in unknown condition it probably isn't going to be worth a lot. Around here the going price for tired small blocks in unkown condition is between 100 and 150 if you can get them to crank over by hand without binding up. If the bind up they sell by the pound.

I should learn to type faster. That engine looks like it has never been played with and if you could get to start someone will probably seriously be interested in it.

It looks like its all there! The lady I bought the truck from gave me all here fathers service records. It kind of cool he actually kept a note book with every service and milage he did them at. The truck only has 65k on it.

Well I finnally got the cab home tonight with the help of a few nieghbors lol it took two tractors to lift it in the air and a third tractor with a trailer to back up under it and drag it home! lol it took almost 2 hours to bring it 3/4 mile up the road. It was on cinderblocks with no wheele or drive train for that matter blocked by pine trees. can't wait to tear into it.

I've got both doors broke down the the shell should i gut all the internals. window regulaters and so on. someboby may want or need this stuff right?
