Show me your exhaust
Hey guys, mostly I am just a lurker around here trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can. But I am in need of some ideas for exhaust routing. I will be running a sbc with a granny 4 speed and a gearvendors overdrive. I have some magnaflow mufflers I want to use that are 24" in length and are for 2.5" exhaust. I would like to have the exhaust dump over the axle or exit out the side under the step on the stepside. I have ramhorns, and 89 factory truck exhaust manifolds, but am also considering aftermarket block huggers, shorty headers, or full length headers. I guess it all depends on exhaust routing. Just need some good ideas for options. Thanks.

Re: Show me your exhaust
Hey 4dranch, that looks about the same as how I have figured I will have to go. What are the length of your glasspacks? Am I seening correctly that you are using the bellhousing crossmember mounts? And using stock manifolds I assume? I am going to be using the stock style manual bellhousing (machined for a SM465) and side mount crossmember. I have tried fitting the mufflers abouve the trailing arms to dump on the rear axle. But I think the side exit under the step has a better look. Will headers fit using the sidemount bellhousing crossmember?

Re: Show me your exhaust
Just my .02 worth. I just replaced my exhaust (done by P.O.) removing it from dumping out in front of the rear wheels to straight out the back. Dumping out in front of the rear wheels is good way to ruin some nice wheels. Also the engine always sounds like it has a miss since you only hear half of the engine. Out the back sounds much better and it is not staining my aluminum wheels with carbon.

How do they sound? I've been thinking about doing the same. I don't have pipes yet.

Re: Show me your exhaust
I used to run Flowmaster 40's with 2.5" pipe, straight out the back with "Megaphone" tips.
I later switched to Cherrybombs with Bellflower tips...

I like how both setups sound. I believe the truck has to sound how it looks. So since I went more old school looking, I wanted it to sound that way. I'm a fan of both Flows and packs. The flowmasters are gone...traded away...
