Coilover HELP!!!!

I want to run coilovers all the way around on my 73 swb. My problem is I don't know what spring rates to use. Can anyone on here help me with the information on this?
My fingers hurt from googleing!!!! lol

good luck I am sure you have done the searching on here too. It has been asked but nobody knows? look around a bit I have a couple posts but not much info. I have 650 lb/inch springs I am going to use (or try) and see if that is stiff enough.

It's based on the weight of your vehicle and the leverage (where you place the springs and the length of the arms). I think QA1 has a good diagram in one of their catalogs.
Have you tried contacting QA1 or company you are going to buy the coilovers from?

On my front suspension, I'll be running anywhere form 600-700 lbs.

Talking with the guys @ QA1, plus a little math of my own. My front end is a little bit of a challenge because everything will be custom, including the motor, so weights have to be either guessed, or thoroughly calculated. With an vague answer like I gave, which do you think I did...?

I have been doing some figuring and am not sure but think with the lever ratio between the spindle and the coil location the load on the coil will be twice that at the tire (weight) so for easy numbers in my case if my front truck weight is 2600 lbs then each tire is holding 1300 lbs so the coil would see 2600 pounds static so my 650 lb/inch springs will compress 4 inches. Now somebody chime in to make sure my thought process is correct? That really seems like a lot.
so yes I am looking for input too before I start cutting.

Now this sounds ok from this side but I am not sure what to expect from the dynamic inputs.

it is a PDF so it has to load but page 2 has a chart that helps on what they think.
Yes I agree it does depend on your lever and the angle of the shocks so it may be somewhat of a trial and error thing. I hope to start sometime...

I've got coils in the rear and am running 200 on the right side and 180's on the left, it turns left alot.

Seems like you guys have at least done some good initial research. I agree that it will be some trial and error.
The reason I asked was to make sure the info you passed along to bowat6969 was somewhat reliable.

I first figured about 650 lb but when i installed them but when I lowered it down it went onto the stoppers. I ended up putting 800# 8" springs in 7" shocks. Had to source the springs from Eibach as the they have a simply awesome selection of springs. I have a lever ratio of about 2:1 and a big Block Olds engine(lighter than a BBC but heavier than SBC).
