Re: never used lube!
Your biggest prob may come from the grease fittings being rusted up....Fittings are at every pivot point on the upper and lower A arms. all the tie rod ends.all 4 ball joints.pitman arm.idler arm
1/2 ton I think are rubber bushings in the A arms.3/4 and ton are greaseable Last edited by powerdriver 1958; 05-26-2009 at 06:43 PM. |

Re: never used lube!
hey, I was bored today and decided to get this done. so I got some grease and went to town. I only got 7-8 of them. then I ran out of grease. or so I thought. anyway, how do I know if one is rusted? they were all nicely covered with grease lol. but there was one on passenger side that seems to be connected to the frame *tie rod?* and I put the gun on there and squeezed and squeezed till I thought I was out of grease and it seamed to have some more resistance then the others. so I am wondering if that one might be rusted. the reason I said I "thought" I was out of grease was when I was working on that one zert and my plunger on the gun bottomed out. then when I was cleaning up, I opened it up and out popped about a half of a tube of lube lol it was only the 4oz cans so it wasn't A lot but it was enough to make a big mess lol. Sometime next week I am going to get a new bigger gun with the flex hose. that will make it a lot easier.

Re: never used lube!
On my truck there are 11 grease zerks on my front end. The ball joints, the tie rod ends, the drag link ends and the steering arm ball. To add to that, I have a zerk in each of my u-joint cross pieces. I use a general lithium based grease and grease my zerks at each oil change.
