73 k20 problem!
I have a 1973 k20. We just got done putting in a new radiator and a new tranny. We just filled all the fluids up and started it. When you shut the engine off it wouldn't. Everything else would like the lights and dash board. The only thing that would stay on is the engine. What could be causing this! I need help ASAP

Does it run good or run rough when you shut it off?

Re: 73 k20 problem!
sounds like the power to the HEI coil is not being shut off could be a faulty ignition switch

Did you disconnect any wires from the firewall or pinch any when changing the trans?

Re: 73 k20 problem!
As said above, could be the alternator feeding the coil directly. Or, did the yellow resistor bypass wire that belongs on the starter solenoid "R" terminal somhow get put on the lug that the battery cable goes on? That would do it too.
