gas tank Question
Well, I just drove my new 72 GMC today. I wasn't getting gas to the carb so I went backwards and found out the metal intake tube in the tank was full of crap about an inch into the tube. Shouldn't there be a "sock" or strainer on the tube? The truck hadn't been started in 5 years and the gas smelled like varnish. I put in 15 gallons of fresh gas and cleaned out the tube. I drove it about ten miles and it ran well. Will I have more problems with the crummy gas in the bottom of the tank? Any advice would be great.

i would pull the tank out and drain it out as they are not hard to remove and then i would drain the gas line and change the filter on the carb
