sound level question

Hello, I have a question. first off dont get me wrong I love my kenwood and it sounds really good In my 02 Silverado. Ok that being said here we go, I have a Kenwood flip out DVD system (mod- kvt617 that I love), in the front doors I have Alpine SPS- 600 and factory speakers in the back doors. I also have a Kenwood KSC-WA62RC (information can on this can be found at this link - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=298758). My deal is the bass sound good but the all around sound just does not sound as loud as I would like it to be (and no I don't want my ears to bleed).. My 97 burb with the factory system sounds louder. Of cores there's 2 more speakers and a lot more room in the burb but I would think I should be rocking in my truck. Any ideas as to how I can make my system loader with out spending a load of money? One thing I'm going to do is relocate the Kenwood box from under the passenger seat to under the back seat. I'm also going to swap the in line wires to RCAs for the sub. Any other ideas.

Are all of your speakers wired w/correct polarity? + to +, - to - ?
If so, have you tried inverting the wires on one speaker at a time to see if you notice a difference?
If that doesn't help, I would add a power amp to the Alpines.

they are wiered right. i will try this.

The speakers int he other truck sound louder because they sound like garbage. Distortion is often confused with volume.

To get the most from those speakers, replace the rears and amp them all.

any ideas as what I should go with for the rear? also what brand and size is best for the money (or lack of it).

so your not getting the bass you want out of the sub unit? how did you wire it in did you hook it to the front speakers? more then likely the sub has its own amp? have you check the settings on that amp? if you can check you levels most of the time from the fac. they are turned all the way down. if you are using a aftermarket head unit from what i read you are using a dvd unit that should have ample power to push your door speakers not that an amp wouldnt help but for most the head unit is enough. does the sub have rca connectors? if so use them and plug them into the lopass output on the head unit. that should help get the bass that you want. hope this helped.

The Bass sounds good. and it wired off of the rear speakers right now. i will be rerunning the cables and using rca instead this weekend. thanks

I would just try and match the rears to the fronts as far as brand and line-up.

IIRC, it's a 4x6 for ext cab, and 5.25" for crew cab. I THINK you could get a 6.5" speaker to fit back there without much work on the crew cab, but I'm not 100% sure.
