s10 ZR2 frame.....????????
Hey guys, need some info if you can help. I was reading the ad engineering website about the s10 frames and the differences each year. The say that a ZR2 frame and rear axle will not work, that they are too wide. Can anyone tell me what the ZR2 frame comes on, or how to tell a ZR2 frame apart from the regular s10 frame. thanks

Re: s10 ZR2 frame.....????????
a zr2 is an offroad package for the final generation of s10's. It is equivalent to the z71 on the full sized pickups.

Re: s10 ZR2 frame.....????????
I did a SAS on a ZR2 a few years ago and it appeared to me that the major differences between that and a "normal" 4wd S10 were the taller spring perches in the rear and dropped mounting points on the frame for the front suspension....kinda like a built in suspension lift. You'll want to do more research, but I don't know why it would be any different than a "normal" 4wd other than it would sit taller.

Re: s10 ZR2 frame.....????????
I submitted a new thread yeaterday asking about a 2004 Blazer Rear End. I think the ZR2 rear end is 60" but I have not been able to confirm this yet.

Re: s10 ZR2 frame.....????????
I can confirm that a ZR2 rear axle is WIDER than the normal 4wd S10. It was around 63" wide, because I had to build a dana 44 front wider to match it. It's also the 8.5" version.

Re: s10 ZR2 frame.....????????
Thanks BlueJeep.
Too bad it's 63" because the rear end is brand new (2004) NOS direct from GM. 3:42 gears, 8.5" with an Auburn Posi for $500. Last edited by Atomsplitter; 06-23-2009 at 09:02 PM. |
