hello,could anyone help me out,im trying to find the bed wood info on for a 1986 short box step side,anybody know where i could find this information?

thanks but i looked a while back but couldnt find anything.im building my own floor,i need the measurements

Really it's not to hard to build the floor from white pine or oak if you're really want to add to the overall costs. You'll need a tablesaw, planer, (a jointer will help but not necessary) and a router with the appropriate bits. I'd use white pine until you get the technique then switch to the wood of choice.

Visit a car show or two and talk to the guys with wooden beds. Most will help you with the dimensions.

I built a bed floor for a 68 out of cypress...but unfortunately lost the photos/notes in an event called Katrina.

Besides saving the cost of a bed kit, you'll have a need to buy tools.

78L X 48W Or at least those are the measurements of mine. Keep in mind mine still has the slat configuration. However, it doesnt seem like it would be to difficult to remove the slats, bring in one piece that size, and bolt it into the orriginal holes. Never having done it I may be wrong though...

Check out www.mar-k.com and look up their installation area. They have instructions for cutting your own bed wood.
