hood probs

ok so i creased my hood on my 79 the other day when i was shutting the hood i'm just going to straitin it back out and put some L angle in there to fix it what i'm trying to figure is there a way to make these hoods easyer to shut ive been lookin at an 82 parts truck we have any one taken the hood hinges off off these and put it on the 70 style cause the 80's area freakin easy to shut or maybe some struts would work but i dunno if they would work these hoods are heavy and i dunno if they make struts strong enough to hold it up

Re: hood probs

Also instead of pulling down, push the hood back and down...

Re: hood probs

Yo! New hood and hinges on mine to replace the bent hood and bad hinges. The newer replacement hoods do not have the cut-out spots along the edges, are stronger, and hinge maintenance will eliminate the bending.
This design was origonally to reduce the danger of decapitation in case of front-end collision in these trucks.
Todd.

Re: hood probs

keep the hinges lubed with white lithium grease it works wonders. once you get a new hood theres a 50/50 chance its still gonna have that c section where they are notorious for bending. so pick up some of those brackets from LMC truck that have self tapping screws so that it wont bend again.
