Re: transmission
It should work. Pretty much all Chevy's use the sam bolt pattern. You will need a crossmember for an automaitc tranny. YOu can acually use the 3 speed column but not recomended. You will need a cooler. It would be best if you had the radiator cooler with a 700R4 as they generate alot of heat. You will need a way to lock up the converter, usually just a switch can do but you will have to do it manualy. I like doing it manually as I can lock up in 3rd grear when climbing mountain roads. A 3 speed auto column will work with the 700R4. A 70's van column will work for you. I used one from a mid 70's van. You can get a kit that goes from the column to the tranny to shift it. You will need a flywheel also for an automatic. I am sure I forgot something and this has been asked so many times that someone will jump in and add something I am sure.
Van upper column with a truck lower.

Re: transmission
You're either going to have to change your starter or at least the nosecone and you will need the two starter bolts. The standard transmission type of starter bolts to the bellhousing while the auto type bolts to the block.

Re: transmission
Do you want highway crusing or something? I love the 3 on the tree, but I know it can be rough on the highway. My 235 with 3 on the tree is good for 70mph, no more!
