What year is my seat?
When I picked up this truck back in September last year, the PO told me the seat was out of a later (I think) model. It seems to match pretty well with what I'm seeing our trucks have, but I want to be positive before I pick up a new vinyl cover for it. Let me know if you have any idea what year it might be.
BTW - My truck is an '83. How much do you think it would be to just get mine recovered at an upholstery shop? |

Re: What year is my seat?
He may have meant later model than your 83 like 84-87. That looks like a regular square body seat.

Re: What year is my seat?
Lever for sliding the seat is mounting on the side by the hinge, and the release to fold it forward is on the back. Does that help any?

Re: What year is my seat?
it may be an aftermarket seat cover on a regular bench seat, that looks like the standard seat bracket from a 73-87 which your seat rests on. You could find any bench seat or set of seats to sit on that . the seat itself seems to sit on the bracket well, and ive seen seat covers like that in whitneys... some of our seats had latches some didnt.. you can check the other recent thread for that about seats

Re: What year is my seat?
Maybe out of an earlier truck. I am parting out a 74 1 ton that has the slider on the side just like that. Sorry I didn't notice it earlier.

Re: What year is my seat?
way nicer i know...lol
the PO spray painted the seat black over the red velour. everywhere you put weight on it is wearing. even where i rest my hand while i'm driving at the passenger side back is wearing. haha that's why i'm in the market for a new cover. like one of you guys mentioned...i too was thinking it may be our seat with some different style cover, but from glancing at the other thread, it seems like it might be out of a pre-81 truck since it has the latch on the back. looking in page 113 of the latest LMC catalog seems to have settled the problem. they list the new covers in spans from 73-80 and then 81-87. they have a picture of the two and the 73-80 cover is on a seat that has the side bracket and side profile very similar to mine. the 81-87 seat has a slightly different side bracket and seems to flare slightly in front of the side bracket. looks like i need a 73-80 seat cover.
