So I was at the local back to the '50s pre car show friday night and saw a pretty trick '64 swb. And I noticed it has the seam in the back of the bed filled just like mine, but then I noticed he has the long seam that runs all the way down the bed filled too. I want to do it with mine because it looked really smooth and tied in with the seam on the end. Just curious what he may have used or what to use. Bondo? Lead? Any help is apreciated guys.

I'm welding mine. One side is done still have the other side to do. I wouldn't use filler. Lead may be a good option, but never messed with it.

I used body filler on mine. Seems to be ok. After 2 years its still looks good. I guess welding would be better.

I kinda like the seam. If your bed is apart you might be able to lay the bedside flat and melt lead or even soder and let it flow level. I dont know if it will do it or not so finding a practice piece is always nice.

I filled the seams on my front fenders using JB Weld epoxy. They were new aftermarket GM fenders of terrible quality and parts of the seam had 1/8" gaps. I thoroughly sandblasted the gap and then filled with regular slow dry JB Weld. They've been on the truck for 10 years now and the seam remains invisible as if it had been welded, and without warpage.

If you arent that good at welding and save yourself some trouble. You could get by with spot welding every 4 inches and then use a good panel adhesive designed for gluing body panels togather. I personally would weld it but TAKE your time. Trust me I welded the hood gap and its alot more work than you think.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm not to sure what I'm going to do yet tho. I just have a little 110 welder and doing that seam wouldn't be very easy with it, but next time I have access to a big welder I probably will do it with that and then a little filler over it to smooth it out.
