The Evolution of a '64 shorty
I have been waiting 8 months to start this thread. I sold my '99 bagged ECSB silverado last week as a down payment for my wife's new cherokee. I finished the bag job on my brothers '62 stepside and got that out of my garage. Now I need only to collect my '64 from my folks farm and park it home in my garage to be completly dismantled!! This is my 2nd 60-66 era truck, but this is the first tiem that I really knew what i was doing (kinda!).
I still have the pictures the seller sent me last December when he sold it to me. The glass is all good, the rest of the truck......... well, it's a project. Paid $300 for this bad boy. Comes with a 350/350combo out of a Monte Carlo. If it isn't rebuildable (which I suspect it is, it "ran when he parked it") I will drop in a newer 5.7L fuel injected from an SS Impala. My wife wants me to go fuel injected anyways (how cool is that??) thats not my junk in back of the truck.. the seller took it out before I hauled the truck home. I call the thread the 'evolution of a '64' because I have no idea where this truck is going. Over the last 8 months I have thought about chopping it rediculously, sunroof, bodydrop, full out convertible with seats in the back to make it the party/boat hauler, etc. Where this truck ends... we will find out down 30 or 40 pages of this thread. let the good times roll |

Re: The Evolution of a '64 shorty
That's one rough ol' girl - but a great project.
When you said 'evolution' I hadn't realized your truck had hauled itself up out of a pond somewhere. Love the battery tire stop too. Mac.

Re: The Evolution of a '64 shorty
That thing looks like it just crawled out of the swamp. What all the green stuff. Reminds me of a truck I saw in Hawaii. It had grass growing on the bumper and out of the fender seams.

That's a fine growth of alge patina you got there!
I'd leave it like it is and drive the crap out of it! |

I think initially, I will try to straighten it out, get it running good, put some wide whites on it, slam it, and drive it as a rat. then as i get serious about fixing it up, I'll replace bumpers, grill, etc before worrying about getting rid of the patina. I like it too |

Re: The Evolution of a '64 shorty
little quick backstory of why I took the swamp beast.
last fall I picked up this bike for $100 on CL, put a $16 battery in it, it turned right over... I was going to build a mini chopper, got bored. sold it for $500 and used the money to buy the '64! |
