Preferred replacement speakers for my '87??

Reaching out to the more experienced guys here that have a grasp on this subject. Im looking for a full clean sound. I dont necessarily need to be heard from blocks away, but I would like a nice improvement over stock. There's an aftermarket clarion head unit in the truck now. Everything else, like I said, is stock. TIA.

Re: Preferred replacement speakers for my '87??

Really anything you put in there over stock will sound great. You could replace the stock locations, and add like a 8" or 10" sub behind the seat. It will give you a little more bass, without being over the top. The possibilites are endless as to what you can do. There are kick panels on kaptkaos's site http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com that let you add speakers there. Then Jeff makes some for the cab corner's that let you put in 6x9's instead of the 4x10's http://www.73-87.com.

Here's mine, Ive made 4 of them so far and the turned out pretty good. Only thing is each one was a different height. I made them where they fit snug so you don't need any screws.

I make 6x9 brackets, 16 ga steel, bolt in.

See the 73-87 parts section or www.73-87.com for more info.

I'd like to jump in here and say that I just got a pair of 6x9 brackets from Jeff and couldn't be happier with them! The fit and quality was excellent.
I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to add some better speakers to their truck.

Guys -

Do the replacement speakers plug right in, using the existing connectors?

Or do you have to redo the wiring?

Actually my '77 was originally equipped with an AM radio and the single dash speaker, so my whole setup is aftermarket.
