Camper Top!!!
Still has the 3-Way Camper badge from Marietta, GA on the back. Orange has gotten alot of compliments on his new cap! I need a sway bar.......
Yall would kick yourselves if you knew what was sitting under the hood of the dump sleeping in the background.

Re: Camper Top!!!
That dump truck grabbed my attention.I guess you`re hinting it has a 427?That sure looks like a nice one.
the GMC has alot of class, with or without the cap.It looks right on there.

Re: Camper Top!!!
My money says that old dumper has a 427 judging by the vents on the side of the hood.

The Head of Alfredo Garcia!!!
The badges on the hood read 427 and apparently it's still in there. I hear it has air brakes and the whole 9 yards.

Re: Camper Top!!!
hey guys, what year range campers have you found that usually fit our trucks? i tried one from a early 90's chevy and it got way to narrow in the back and the curve at the front was really off. I really want one/ need one, im tired of my dogs running all over me in the cab! nothing like two 60lb pitbulls trying to sit in your lap and look out the window while you drive!

Re: Camper Top!!!
Is there a market for era specific camper tops? I mean, shipping aside... ( I hear they weigh a lot). Is it a swap meet thing, personal preferences etc? What are they usually worth? tail-gate eliminators worth more or less?

Re: Camper Top!!!
The topper that came on my truck when I got it was pretty decent looking. I recently slapped it on for a camping trip, since I didn't want to mess around with setting up a tent this year.
It honestly looked alright, especially with the white roof. Just like yours. I dig it man. -Sam.

Re: Camper Top!!!
The one my we had on the 69 3/4 ton when I was growing up was a Vacationeer tail gate eliminator camper shell. It stuck up above the cab roof by about 8 inches. We lost about 1 1/2 MPG with the shell on due to wind drag and weight. It was so heavy (I believe it weighed around 500 lbs), to get it off the truck, my dad built these bed high saw horses out of 2 x 8's. He would get in the truck and lift half the shell on his back at a time and we'd slide the horses under the shell.
They were practical as all hell though! We had a couple poles in the back so that we could prop the whole back of it open like a canopy. It was great for camping, etc. Last edited by 69GMCLonghorn; 08-25-2009 at 11:56 AM. |
