Square body on GearzTV

http://www.gearztv.com/shows.php

Stumbled on this Gearz episode this morning. It was nice to see a square body with Stacey. All the details are in the link, and the truck turned out pretty good.

Re: Square body on GearzTV

Yeah I kinda liked the look of the truck before he started messing with it.

Not a fan of the new big wheel thing or the euro lights, kinda looks ricerish to me....

I did like the rear bumper and "wood" bed though.

Re: Square body on GearzTV

I still think the big brakes thing is more of a gimmick than just a normal disc swap.

What ever happened to the days when people popped their hoods to show what they have and not their brakes...

yea true but back in the day the muscle cars only did one thing. go fast in a st8 line, forget about stoping or turning.

thats why they are making it handel better and be able to slow better.

Re: Square body on GearzTV

Stacey David pisses me off!!!
Project Knuckle Buster....what a joke
he had nothing good to say about the truck in the before state......basically called it a piece of junk...then he is spouting "budget build" when he buys expensive bolt on Brembo brake kits (which I'm sure are multiple thousands of dollars, the stylin' trucks site doesn't list the kits anymore) and he didn't even replace the axle seals while he had the rear axles out of the housing...he is only doing a 3/4 drop yet he is running 18's and 20's on the truck...just doesn't look right.
and he acts like the lowering arms are the way to go......

not to mention the show (as well as David) is sooo cheesy

sorry, guess i'm in rant mode.....

Jeeez, I was just happy to see a square on TV. I'm not to happy with the wheel/tire combo but all in all I'm still going to watch the next episodes.

You know it's kinda funny. If That were someone on here showing their build everyone would be talking about how great it looks.

It did appear that he started with a pretty nice truck. Who's to say how nice the paint really was though. As far as the 15" Cragars and tube grill go, that's cool if you want to stay lost in the 80's. Personally I prefer the updates.

Re: Square body on GearzTV

The show is kind of cheesey. However, there are a bunch of car shows on that are cheesey. On the good side though it's still nice to see what products are out there. That's really what alot of these shows are about is show casing products. The actual working on the vehicles is really just a glance over.

I thought the truck looked good except for the airbrushed door with the hand and gearz logo.

I have to disagree with all that. If it were a members truck, I would definitely respect the work involved, but if I didn't like it, I wouldn't comment.

As far as the wheels, just because it's new doesn't mean it's always better. Some looks are just classics.

And I still think the whole thing with ginormous brakes are over-rated and kind of a waste of money, unless you plan on racing the hell out of your truck in the middle of town doing 90mph in a 30mph zone and don't want to rearend everybody.

Certainly you are entitled to your opinion on styling.

Regarding the installation of "ginormous brakes" I will take it that you are some how pleased with the thoroughly inadequate brakes that your truck is equipped with. Having had trucks with rear disc and larger brakes added I can assure you it is not a waste of money. The increased braking ability makes your vehicle much more capable of stopping quicker, straighter, and controlling a load.

I have no idea what this has to do with "doing 90mph in a 30mph zone in the middle of town". Maybe you can tell me from your experience.

Re: Square body on GearzTV

don't get me wrong
I do like seeing a square on a national show
and I do like the truck....And the upgrades
I just don't like his attitude and his cheese...
Or his use of the term "budget build"

I did see some 13" front and rear disc kits on stylin trucks site that I would love to have

The "wood" bed looked good with the tailgate up. But the filler plate to fill the gap, left it looking cheap and un-finished.

He didn't bolt on a set of brembos he bolted on some SSBC brakes which are much cheaper. If it was my truck I would have done a true wood bed floor as it look good with the tail gate up, and defiantly get rid of those cheesy door logos, (air brushed my ass they look like stickers)

Re: Square body on GearzTV

I just got done watching the episodes. Overall I liked the build and the truck itself (minus some of the interior). Stacy seems like a real nice guy, but his "happy" attitude can be a bit much at times.

The only think I didn't like was all the props LMC got...seemed like a LOT of the stuff came from them. I have never really been pleased with their parts, and I am sure if Stacy did most the work on the truck like the TV show indicates, he might notice the same sub-par quality as well.

Oh well, it was a fun watch. I will have to add it to 73-87.com anyhow.

Re: Square body on GearzTV

I don't know why you guys are hatin' on the brakes. It's one of the best upgrades you can make to a vehicle Tires are the best, and next comes the brakes.

So what if you don't care for the styling of the truck. Get over it. If the owners want to change it, they can and will. The paint they used is so easy to match and the parts that he used are off the shelf, and perform just as well, if not better than the originals.

Overall, the truck turned out well if not on a "budget"

Re: Square body on GearzTV

i think the truck turned out nice. granted, imo the truck wasnt a big piece when it came in like he made it to be, and of course there are things we all would have done differently... but all in all i think it turned out nice.

with all this talk about brakes you guys have me thinking i made a bad decision w/ keeping the stock set-up in the front and same stock size rear disc in the back!! man i hope i see some kind of braking improvement!?! jeez, i hope they dont look too small also... the main reason for doing them all new disc front and rear was for performance and looks
