new guy with a 1968 swb 350/350 work in progress
Hello my name is Tim and I am new to this forum and I will have questions about upgrading my 68 chevy swb. It is curently a 350 vortec and 350 trans and soon to be updating that with a just purchased 700r4. The 700r4 has the Corvettte upgrades already installed. One question I have is will the 350 trans yoke fit in the 700r4 and what will I have to do with the trans mount crossmember. Will it have to replaced or can it just be moved? I have also already bought and paid for a vintage ac package to go in the truck this winter. As soon as i find where to post pics of my truck I will get them online and hope to show this truck as I tear it down for all the work this winter where I would also like to put on a air bag system at the same time the ac unit goes in.
Hope to get to know lot of you as my truck gets all the things I would like done. Thanks Tim |

Re: new guy with a 1968 swb 350/350 work in progress
to the board from Mid-MO!!!
You'll find this place to become your second home. There's tons of information, friends, parts, .... and so much more. Be sure to mark you calendar for the Midwest All Truck Nat's in Riverside, MO (September 11-13). Glad to have you aboard Tim. In terms of adding a 700R4 to your truck, I believe you will have to change the location of the tranny member, due to the change in length of the transmission it self. Just to be sure though, check out the 67-72 Message board as several members have done this exact swap on their trucks, and we have several FAQ's on the subject. Also, we have several get togethers with board members in the midwest, so be sure to keep in tune with the region section of the board, especially the Missouri and Midwest portions. Can't wait to see some pics of your project!
