1935 Chevy Pickup??
Hey guys,
My Grandfather gave me his truck years ago when I was in High School. I never really did anything with it all this time except keep it safe and dry. Unfortunately he passed away this last year and I'm really wanting to start rebuilding his truck so my Grandmother can see it back on the road again, sort of a dedication to him. For it's age, the truck is pretty solid I would say except for the floorpans and the rocker area. I'm having a hard time finding any replacement panels for this old of truck. Floorpans, rockers, doorsills, etc... Does anyone know of any companies manufacturing parts for these old trucks or is it simply fabricate from scratch type of a gig? Also, it had a flatbed on it that was all rotted out so I just trashed it years ago. Does anyone know of the different years of truck box's that will interchange with this, if any? My ultimate plan is to dump it down in the weeds with a 19/20 wheel combo!.....I just gotta get started now Any help is appreciated! T |

Re: 1935 Chevy Pickup??
Have you posted over at Stovebolt and Inliners sites? I would be very surprised if there is anyone making replacement panels for it, not that much demand. You will probably end up making your own. Good news is floor pans are probably flat, without pictures I can't envision the rockers. Did through the threads, there is one where a guy is building a custom bed from scratch, pretty interesting use of large diameter pipes, straps, etc. to form the roll pan and other parts. Good luck and post some pictures.

Re: 1935 Chevy Pickup??
Take a look at Jim Carter (no, not the former President )
http://www.oldchevytrucks.biz/34_46/t1.asp Last week I picked up a 39. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet, but the price was just too good to pass up. I'm definitely gonna keep the patina though. Stuff for these trucks seems pretty high from what I've seen so far. I need a grille and have seen them for up to $700 new. Here's mine. Got any pics you can share of yours? We love pics.

Re: 1935 Chevy Pickup??
The floors in this truck are flat with just an inspection cover for the transmission "hump". If it helps, I do kow that Direct Sheetmetal will custom build the floor and a firewall with some information from you.
As was previously stated, I'm not aware of anyone making replacement cab parts for these, but Stovebolt, Chevytalk or Webrodder may have someone who know of something. |

Re: 1935 Chevy Pickup??
Thanks for the info guys.. I'll try to get some pics of it today and post them up. I'll have to move it outside to get some decent photos but that's ok.
I already checked out Direct Sheetmetal, looks like they got some cool stuff! Thanks again! |

Re: 1935 Chevy Pickup??
Yes I do... The doors are actually in about the best shape of all. Years and years ago I took one of the doors into a body shop and had it redone (just one of the doors was all I had the money for back then).... It turned out good though. I've learned a little here and there over the years and I'm planning on doing most the bodywork myself this time around.

Re: 1935 Chevy Pickup??
You have a very nice beginning to a sweet project. That grille is in great shape for its age. You were saying you needed floors and possible firewall. You can make them without much trouble. The cost of a 4'x8' sheet of 16 ga. steel is about $40.
I just finished one up http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=362524 Its for a 59 but the method is the same. For your bed look for chevy 1953 and older, they have a little more style than the 54 and up. Get your self a Harbor freight 3ft brake and bend up your own parts. Most of the pieces you need are not that complicated to make. |

The truck is in great shape actually all in all. Especially the doors and the grille... Its funny, this summer I've had it sitting outside off and on, I get people stopping to ask if it's for sale almost EVERYDAY like I'm running some sort of car lot They scope it out through the bushes as they drive by |
